HID Replacement Drive Heats Up: New High-Efficiency T5 covRguard® Lamps Added to High-Output T5 covRguard® Offering

CLEVELAND, Ohio — (NYSE: GE) — Five new 28-watt T5 covRguard® high-efficiency, Starcoat® Ecolux® fluorescent lamps from GE Appliances & Lighting and five previously introduced 54-watt high-output lamps give food processing plants, food warehouses and distribution centers, grocery stores and restaurants several viable options for the replacement of older HID and fluorescent lighting systems.
Whereas the 54-watt high-output T5 lamps are ideally suited for use in indirect and up-lighting high-bay applications, the new 28-watt high-efficiency lamps are designed as energy-saving alternatives for general lighting applications where older low-watt HID and fluorescent lamp technologies might be operating.
The new 28-watt high-efficiency lamps include the F28T5/830ECO/CVG, F28T5/835ECO/CVG, F28T5/841ECO/CVG, F28T5/850ECO/CVG and F28T5/865ECO/CVG. They join five 54-watt high-ouput versions introduced in 2005: F54T5/830/HO/ECO/CVG, F54T5/835/HO/ECO/CVG, F54T5/841/HO/ECO/CVG, F54T5/850/HO/ECO/CVG and F54T5/865/HO/ECO/CVG.
Each of the new 28-watt high-efficiency lamps features initial lumens of 2900, mean lumens of 2726, an industry standard color-rendering index of 85 and a 20,000-hour rated life. Color temperatures available include 3000K, 3500K, 4100K, 5000K and 6500K. The all-ECO line simplifies recycling and disposal for end-users.
Designed with all the same performance characteristics as standard GE covRguard lamps, T5 covRguard high-efficiency, Starcoat Ecolux fluorescent lamps offer outstanding shatter resistance with a 15-mil thick Lexan shield that helps to contain glass fragments and phosphors if a lamp is broken. In addition to qualifying under FDA, USDA and OSHA guidelines for food-service use, these new covRguard lamps are NSF-certified for use in food-service areas.
